In my opinion, these come out better then the ones you'd get a McDonald's.

Ingredients
  • Dough:
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. flour
  • Filling:
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2/3 c. butter, melted
  • Icing:
  • 1/4 c. butter, softened
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions
  • Step 1 Dissolve yeast in water. Let stand about 5 minutes or until foamy.
  • Step 2 Combine sugar with milk and butter. Mix in eggs and salt. Then mix in 1 c. flour. When combined add another cup of flour. Mix in yeast and stir in last 2 cups of flour. Form into a ball and let rise in a greased bowl for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Step 3 Mix filling ingredients and set aside.
  • Step 4 Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Use a pizza cutter and cut dough into 1/2-inch wide strips and then into 1-inch long pieces.
  • Step 5 Grease Texas-size muffin tins with softened butter. Drop 6 pieces of dough into each muffin cup
  • Step 6 then put 2 tsp. of filling over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Step 7 Preheat oven to 350.
  • Step 8 Bake for 17 to 20 minutes or until light brown.
  • Step 9 Mix together icing ingredients. spoon 1 Tbsp. over the top as soon as muffins are out of the oven.
